Behind the Scenes

Making parody cartoons and films are extremely time and resource consuming. A cartoon needs artists, animators, writers and voice actors. Making "live action films" is even worse. Add some tempermental actors to the mix. Here we'll try to give you a peak into the CREATIVE world behind Trooper Clerks.

Cast/Crew Bios

We would like to thank the cast and crew who worked very hard to make Trooper Clerks a reality. Everyone wore many hats during the production on top of the fact that they all worked full-time jobs in the real world. Read on to hear us sing their praises.

Jeff Allen
Director
Writer
Creative Concepts
V.O. Trooper Dante
Costumes and Props
Set Construction

Jeff, the auteur behind Trooper Clerks, is a full-time Web production specialist. Jeff definitely has way too much time on his hands and needs a new hobby.

Bernadette Johnson
Writer
V.O. Bothan Spy
Irrate Royal Guard
Coroner Officer
Creative Concepts
MouseBot Controller

Bernadette had the honor of playing every female role in the live-action movie and the cartoon, along with some not-so-female roles. She is very witty with the written word, and remote-controls a MouseBot with the utmost precision.

Todd Coss
Art Director
Writer
V.O. Darth Jay

Todd is a full-time artist and ex-navy photographer. He hand drew over 300 keyframes for the Animated-One-Shot Cartoon and lent his voice for Darth Jay. His passion for all-things Kevin Smith was instrumental in developing the story arc in the animated short.

Kurt Allen
Trooper Dante
Animation Director
GNK-PowerDroid
Hockey Trooper
Imperial Officer 2
Protocol Droid
Titles/Logos
Costumes and Props
Set Construction

Kurt is an inventor, graphic designer and part-time Flash animator. Aside from playing nearly every role in the Live-Action film, he helped build costumes and props and allowed the construction of a Death Star hallway in his living room. He animated and edited the One-Shot-Cartoon in his off-time from his day job. Additional kudos to the fact that he survived 15,000 takes of the "Trooper Randal wrangling" scene.

David Burns
V.O. Trooper Dante
Sound Engineer
Hockey Trooper
Royal Guard Bob
Creative Concepts
Audio Consulting
Titles/Logos

David is a graphic designer, guitar player, and computer nerd (how many people had a dedicated LAN in their home back in 1996???). He provided valuable assistance with the audio, titles, web graphic design, and played hockey with a Mousebot. He is the voice of Trooper Dante in all versions of the TC parodies and he played the role of Live-action Royal Guard Bob (dance, David, dance!).

Russell Hatfield
Trooper Randal
Biker Scout
Beta Tester

Russell, a computer systems administrator and devout Trekkie, was initially reluctant to play the role of Live-Action Trooper Randal. Once the camera was rolling though he warmed up to the part. On the Animated-One-Shot, Russell was a beta tester for the initial edits of the cartoon. If it didn't make him laugh, it didn't make it into the final version.

Charles Nicolosi
DeathStar Gunner
Imperial Officer 1
Greedo
Pringles Officer
Beta Tester

Charles is a network administrator and the quietest person in our motley band. Despite this, he had more on-camera speaking time than anyone else in the film, which he executed flawlessly. Charles was also a beta tester for the initial edits of the Animated-One-Shot cartoon.

Jon Nail
Helmeted Guard 1
Hockey Trooper
Trooper Jay
Imperial Officer 2

Jon, AKA Nail, is an art director by trade. We knew right away that he'd be perfect for the part of Live-Action Trooper Jay. He did a great Imperial Officer too.

Carl Borders
Trooper Mosier
Helmeted Guard 2

Carl, our student intern, just happened to be in our area when we needed a body to fill costumes. He even brought us food (Hey... isn't it supposed to work the other way around?). Carl, Thank you.

Brad Smith
Media 100 Editing

Brad, our illustrious Media 100 video editor, saved our asses. Praise be to you, Brad. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Eddie Ketzler
Digital Consulting

Eddie provided valuable advice and information, and he hooked us up with Brad. Eddie mixed down our final audio.

Mark Moffitt
Audio Consulting

Mark, is a Web production specialist and audio/video guy in the Atlanta area. He leant his well trained ear to our little project.

Cathy Borders
Costumes and Props

Cathy, an accomplished teacher, sewed many costumes for the production.

Special thanks to the following:

Paul Detewiler, for suffering through Jeff's tyrannical direction on the first version of the voiceover recordings.

Jamil, owner of the "Classic City General Store" in Athens GA, for allowing us to film in his store late at night.

Steve and the other guys at "Video Library" in Athens, GA.
